“Instead of cleaning the house, I just turn off the lights.”
Do you despise cleaning? Does the mere thought of it make your energy level plummet? If so, you’re not alone. Cleaning is often seen as a necessary evil, something we have to do but don’t “really” enjoy.
However, what if I told you there were ways to clean your home to give you more energy and make the process more enjoyable?
In this blog post, we’ll review five cleaning hacks that will help you save time, gain more energy and enjoy cleaning your home!
I used to be a “clean maniac” who thoroughly enjoyed cleaning. But as the years passed and I grew older, cleaning became more of a chore for me. I struggled to find the energy to clean my home, and it seemed like the task was never-ending.
However, over time I’ve “learned again” some tricks that have helped me regain my love of cleaning – and they can help you too!

What to do to like the cleaning?
Once on the magazine’s cover, I read that any good habit can start in our head. After all, we are the only ones who can change our thoughts and feelings about anything. So it is possible to like cleaning if you think that way.
“Tell yourself that cleaning isn’t as bad as it seems and that it’s the only way to have a clean and fresh home.” Changing the attitude is the first step, but there are other things you can do to make the process more enjoyable.
Here are five hacks that will help to Like cleaning:
Hack #1: Make a list of the tasks you need to do.
One of the best ways to overcome any feeling of overwhelm when cleaning is to list the tasks that need to be done. This will help you see what needs to be done and where to start.
Hack #2: Make a Cleaning Schedule
If cleaning the entire house seems too much for you all at once, try creating a cleaning schedule to help you break the task down into more manageable chunks.
One way to make cleaning less daunting is to create a schedule and stick to it. Dedicate certain days or hours of the week to specific cleaning tasks.
For example:
- Monday can be dedicated to dusting and sweeping. I usually get this “fun dust” done on Monday because I typically have more energy following the weekend. I’ll be honest with you: I don’t particularly appreciate dusting.
- Wednesday can be for vacuuming and mopping; I don’t mind doing this because I enjoy having clean flooring, especially from pet hair. Having a pet necessitates a significant amount of vacuuming.
- Friday can be for bathroom cleaning. I’ll let you in on a bit of a secret, and you might think I’m crazy, but it’s my favorite cleaning area.
- Saturday for kitchen. I believe it is an excellent day to clean that area. I’m usually in a good mood because the week has just passed, and cleaning is almost like a form of relaxation for me.
- Sunday is a rest day. I don’t do many home chores on Sundays because I prefer to have a weekend to myself. I like to walk, bike, or watch movies on the couch.

This scheduling will help you stay organized and ensure that you don’t miss any necessary tasks. It will also help you keep your home clean regularly, reducing the need for you to spend hours cleaning it all at once.
Cleaning gives you a sense of accomplishment and can boost your energy levels.
Start with one small space and work your way up – this will help keep motivation high. If you prefer to do the heavy lifting all at once and then forget about it, this is the option for you.
Find your cleaning target.
- Regarding cleaning, some people prefer to tackle everything at once, while others prefer to focus on one task at a time. If you like to focus on one charge, find your “cleaning target.” This could be the bathroom, the kitchen, or a specific room in your home.
Focusing on one task will make cleaning less overwhelming and more manageable. Plus, you’ll be able to see progress as you clean, which is always motivating.

Make it a Routine
- One way to ensure that you always have energy when it comes time to clean is to make it a routine. Choose a day of the week or hours of the day to dedicate specifically to cleaning tasks. This way, you’ll know what needs to be done and won’t have to spend time thinking about it.
Hack #3 Take brakes
If you find yourself struggling with energy when it comes time to clean, break the cleaning task into smaller goals. For example, tell yourself that you’ll only clean for twenty minutes and then take a break and sit for five minutes. It will help you to avoid feeling overwhelmed and discouraged. Please don’t take too many leaves to clean your house; it’ll take all day to clean.
Hack #4: Use the Right Tools to get the job done
Another way to make cleaning more enjoyable is to use the right tools. For example, invest in a good vacuum cleaner if you hate sweeping. Or, if scrubbing toilets isn’t your thing, get a toilet brush with a long handle so you don’t have to get too close to the toilet.
Using the right tools will make the task at hand more manageable and less frustrating, making cleaning more enjoyable.

Hack #5: Keep all the cleaning supplies in one basket
If you have all of your cleaning supplies in one place, it will be easier for you to grab them and get started. It could be a basket, caddy, or even a box. That’s how I keep my cleaning supplies, and it’s helpful.
Make one space for all your small home appliances this way; you won’t have to search for the vacuum cleaner when it’s time to clean the carpets or the broom when it’s time to sweep the floors. Having all of your supplies in one place will make the process easier and less time-consuming.
One of the main reasons people don’t enjoy cleaning is because it can be tiring. However, remember that the result is worth all of the effort in the end! When you’re finished cleaning, your home will be clean, and you’ll feel much better.
Below are five of my favorite cleaning tips for gaining more energy.

Tip #1: Make a Game Out of It
One way to make cleaning more fun is to create a game out of it. Challenge yourself to see how fast you can clean a room or how many rooms you can clean in a certain amount of time. Or, make it into a competition with your friends or family members.
Work with a Partner
If you have a partner or friend who is also willing to help you clean, work together! It will make the process more fun and less daunting. You can chat and laugh while you work, making time fly by. The more fun you have while cleaning, the less it feels like a chore.
Tip #2: Create a Playlist
Listening to music can help you get into a cleaning groove. Put together a playlist of upbeat songs that make you feel happy and energetic. You are the only one who understands your preferences. I enjoy listening to Latino music because of the beats.
Tip #3: Play Music While You Clean
One of my favorite tips for enjoying cleaning is playing music while I do it. Not only does it make the task more fun, but it also helps me get through it faster. Put on your favorite tunes and sing along as you clean. It will not only help you pass the time more quickly, but it will also make the task more enjoyable.

Tip #4: Listen to an audiobook
If you find that cleaning is a little too mundane for your taste, and you’re not a fan of listening to music while you work, try using a podcast or an audiobook instead. It will help keep you entertained and make the time fly by. Anything that will keep you entertained and distracted from the cleaning tasks at hand will help make the process more amusing.
Tip #5: Reward Yourself After You’re Finished
Once you’ve finished cleaning, reward yourself! It could be anything from taking a relaxing bath to eating your favorite treat. Rewarding yourself after completing a task will help you feel more motivated to do it in the future. I’ll use my prize to read a pleasant or criminally amusing novel because I enjoy reading. What will be yours? Let me know in the comments section below.

Cleaning doesn’t have to be a dreaded chore if you use better products.
Use Natural Products
If you have allergies or skin conditions, cleaning products without harsh chemicals can make the process more enjoyable. I have psoriasis and allergies, so using natural products helps keep my skin from becoming irritated. Not only are they safer for your health, but many of them also smell great!
The fumes from these products can give you a feeling of satisfaction and control, as though you’re getting something done.
Another great way to gain energy when cleaning is to use natural cleaners. White vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice – are all great ingredients for natural cleaners. Not only are they affordable and easy to find, but they also work just as well as traditional cleaners. But I have something better, a natural pre-mixed product created from essential oils that are easier to use daily.
Why did I start using natural cleaning supplies made from essential oils?
My psoriasis and allergies got out of control a few years back, and I had difficulty controlling them. My body was under the stress of all chemicals I had to deal with daily. I had nothing to lose, like to try a different approach, even in a weekly cleaning routine. I bought my first bottle of young living thieves cleaner and started mixing. It was fun to fix healthy cleaning liquids on my own.
Using just a few weeks, I noticed a change in my psoriasis flare-ups and allergies. All the symptoms calm down, and cleaning becomes a lot more pleasurable. In my house, it’s a must.

Cleaning with household cleaners with essential oils is suitable for your wallet. I don’t know if it’s important to you, but if you’ve ever looked at the prices of natural cleaning products in stores, you might have grabbed your head.
One of the undoubted advantages of using essential oil cleaners is saving money. Just prepare a spray bottle, water, and white vinegar. For example, lemon oil is perfect for washing water stains in the sink or kitchen countertops. Its positive side effect will stimulate the lymphatic system to remove toxins from our body.
When you clean the house, you inhale the smell of cleaning products. Essential oils are potent antioxidants and have many health properties. So if you use them to clean up, you improve circulation, strengthen the immune system, gain energy, improve mood, and support the work of hormones and the respiratory system’s health. In addition, it is worth emphasizing that they are effectively clean, is safe for you and your pet, and allow you to reduce the number of chemicals in our environment.
Besides their bouquet of fragrances, the essential oils kill bacteria, viruses, and fungi. They are obtained from various plants’ leaves, flowers, petals, skins, seeds, bark, fruits, and roots. Each essence has a different scent. It is vital to use natural essential oil cleaners instead of synthetic substitutes.
The list below provides helpful cleaning tips using toxin-free natural products that I love about Young Living.
